Spice's first litter
We bred Spice for the first time in April 2008 and she had her first litter in June. What we first thought was three babies turned out to be only one, the beautiful Pumpkin Spice. She is pictured here at five weeks. She is just gorgeous like her Mom and will surely be a Champion. She has Spice's laid-back personality and we are looking forward to a repeat breeding with Ch. Karma's Big Shot, a.k.a. Duncan this fall.
Rocky's second litter
We had such success with Rocky's first litter that we decided to breed her again, hoping for a show dog. Our Mojo was the sire, and two beautiful puppies were born on June 19, 2007. The male (who we call Harry) is red and white and looks just like his Dad, and the female (who we call Kiz) is brindle and white, and looks just like Rocky. Both pups are amazing, and have great bone, wide chests, large, well-shaped heads with proper ear set, and nice toplines. We believe that Kiz will be show quality, and her markings will make her flashy in the ring.
Harry went to his new home in the Chicago area. He now has four dog brothers and sisters and three humans to play with. Kiz went to her new home in Houston. Her new family flew to Indianapolis, picked her up, and then flew home in the cabin together. If you would like more information on our puppies, please email us. We are happy to answer any questions. welksd@comcast.net
Rocky's first litter
We bred Rocky for the first time in 2006. She was bred on April 14, 2006 to Ch. Otis Spunky Meyer. Otis is out of Ch. Helfyre Warm Valley Sixpense and Jacquay's Violet Rose. Owned by Albert & Rebecca Jacquay and handled by Jerry & Ernie Fox, Otis finished his Championship in less than a year.
Eight healthy puppies were born at noon on Saturday, June 10, 2006. This litter was unusual for two reasons: first, the very fact that there were eight pups and second, the fact that seven of them were females! Smaller litters with more male pups are much more common. Also, as you can see, we had quite a variety of colors in this litter as well.
Rocky was a great Mom and this made our job a lot easier. She and Mojo loved to play with them, and the pups especially loved to play outside with the tubes we had set up for them. Rocky corrected their bad habits as they grew, and they soon learned to chew only on the durable Nylabones we had for them.
The puppies are pictured above at six weeks, and it was quite a job to get them to sit long enough to take this group photo. The pup on the far right was our only male. "Fabio," as he is now known, lives in Bloomington with his family.
