Spice is our kennel Superstar. She is more formally known as Ch. Empire's Legend Spice Girl.
Spice is a beautiful red and white female with clear black eyes and half-mask face. At the age of four months we knew she was definitely show-quality and very flashy with all the hallmarks of a future Champion. And we were right. We began showing Spice in May 2005 and finished her in August 2006. Her sire is Ch. Cherokee Legend Crazy Horse and her dam is Ch. Empire's Cleopatra. We purchased Spice from Faye Richardson of Empire Bulldogs, and Faye became our mentor. Along with handling classes taught by Steve SeRine, we were successfully on our way in the show world.
Spice began her show career at four months with a fourth place win in her first puppy match. Fifteen months later she finished at the Muncie, Indiana KC show. She knows exactly what to do when she steps in the ring and she loves to be there. Her favorite thing is to be in Group competition with everyone cheering her on.
Spice won an Award of Merit at the Westminster Kennel Club show in February 2007. She was expertly handled by Luis Arenas. Luis did a wonderful job with her in the ring. We can't thank him enough.
Spice also showed at the Westminster Kennel Club show in February 2009. This time she was expertly handled for us by our good friend Lisa Gatt from Auburn, Indiana. The competition was strong, and even though Spice looked fabulous in the ring she was not chosen for an award. Our thanks to Lisa who did a wonderful job with Spice.
Spice is now seven years old and is retired, although she still loves to show and she may enter a few shows in 2012 in the veteran's class.
Spice has appeared in several Indianapolis-area newspapers, on two television stations, WXIN Fox 59 (once) and WTHR Channel 13 (twice) and was featured in Lafayette Magazine twice (Fall 2008 and Fall 2010). See her Media page for all her appearances.
